2025년 한 해가 저물어가는 12월의 크리스마스는 전 세계의 불황에도 불구하고 여전히 아름답게 빛난다.

핀란드의 로마니에미는 1927년부터 '산타 마을 원조'로 불리기 시작하면서 여전히 올해에도 세계에서 사람들이 몰려들기 시작한다.

핀란드는 산타마을을 조성해 관광객들을 맞으면서 ‘산타크로스 종주국’으로서 매년 성탄절 전후에 수도인 헬싱키를 비롯해 축제가 한창이다.

‘산타크로스’의 역사적 정의는 터키 지역의 성 니콜라스 주교로 알려져 있는데, ‘산타클로스’의 역사적 기원은 터키 지역의 성 니콜라스 주교이지만 핀란드의 ‘로마니에미’ 마을은 압도적으로 산타크로스 이미지가 확실하다.
