지난 7월 29일부터 8월 2일까지 울산광역시 울주군에 위치한 울주문화예술회관 채움갤러리에서 울산광역시와 (재)울산문화관광재단 후원으로 ‘심은주’ 개인전이 열렸다.

 

이 개인전시회는 젊은 작가 ‘심은주’의 ‘선’(線)으로 이루어지는 목탄화의 기법을 선보이는 야심찬 개인전시회이다.

 

작가는 전시회의 주제를 “당신의 내일의 결심은 무엇인가요?”라고 물음을 던지며 출발하고 있다.

 

이번 전시는 동심(童心)의 시선으로 선(線)의 언어로 말하면서 무엇보다도 아주 개인적이지만 유쾌한 일상의 주제를 담고 있다.

 

심은주 작가는 “어릴 적 우리는 크레용 하나로 세상을 바꿀 수 있다고 믿었다”며 “오늘은 우주비행사 내일은 수영장 속에 헤엄치는 ‘니모’하면서 어린 시절의 결심은 늘 크고 솔직하며 새로웠다”고 회고하면서 “그 마음을 담아 ‘선’ 속에 어떤 결심을 불러오는 계기를 작품을 통해 표현했다”고 말한다.

 

작품 속 선들은 그렇게 세상의 고민과 결심을 반복하며 제각기 내일을 향해 걸어가는 것을 말하고 있다.

 

그렇게 심은주 작가는 작품을 통해 “나도 다시 시작할 수 있다”는 미래에의 희망적인 메시지를 전하려 노력하고 있다.

 

 

 

그러면서 작가는 그림을 감상하는 이에게 묻고 있다.

 

“당신의 내일은 어떤 결심으로 시작될까요?”라며 한 줄의 미세한 선으로 연결되는 수많은 선과의 교차로 작품마다 자신의 의도하는 바를 전하고 있다.

 

다분히 철학적이고 상상적인 생각으로 인간 삶의 내면을 표현하고자 ‘선(line)’을 선택한 젊은 작가의 화법은 향후 한국 화단에 주목을 받으며 이정표를 하나 세울 것으로 예측된다.

The Art of 'Zen', 'Shim Eun-ju' Solo Exhibition

From July 29 to August 2, a solo exhibition of 'Shim Eun-ju' was held at Chaeum Gallery, Ulsan Art Center located in Ulju-gun, Ulsan Metropolitan City, with the support of Ulsan Metropolitan City and (re) Ulsan Culture and Tourism Foundation.

This private exhibition is an ambitious solo exhibition showcasing the techniques of charcoal painting composed of 'lines' (lines) by the young artist 'Shim Eun-joo. '

The artist's theme of the exhibition was “What are your tomorrow's resolutions?” I'm leaving with the question asked.

This exhibition is speaking in the language of Zen () from the perspective of a child, and above all, it contains a very personal and pleasant theme of everyday life.

Artist Shim Eun-joo says, “As a child, we believed we could change the world with a single crayon,” and “Today's astronaut's' Nemo 'swimming in the pool tomorrow, my childhood decisions were always big, honest, and new,” and “I expressed the opportunity to bring about a kind of decision in' Zen 'with that heart through my work.”

The lines in the work talk about each walking towards tomorrow by repeating the world's worries and decisions.

As such, artist Shim Eun-joo is trying to convey a hopeful message for the future, “I can start again” through her work.

At the same time, the artist is asking those who appreciate the paintings.

“What resolution will you start tomorrow with?” Each work conveys his intentions at the intersection of numerous lines connected by a single line of fine lines.

It is predicted that the speech style of the young artist who chose “line (line)” to express the inner world of human life with very philosophical and imaginative ideas will attract attention in Korean flower beds in the future and set a milestone.
